FAQs
SPRAY TANNING
How long does a spray tan take?
The actual spray application takes about 10–15 minutes, but I allow a full 30 minutes for your appointment to give us time for consultation, questions, and drying.
How should I prepare for my spray tan?
- Remove hair in any areas you normally shave or wax at least 24 hours prior.
- Schedule hair appointments, manicures, or pedicures before your tan (ideally the day before).
- Exfoliate thoroughly to remove dead skin and help your tan absorb evenly.
- Hydrate your skin well the night before, especially elbows, knees, feet, and hands.

What should I do the day of my appointment?
- Arrive with clean, dry skin (no lotion, deodorant, jewelry, or makeup).
- Wear loose, dark, cotton-based clothing that doesn’t cling.
- Bring flip flops to avoid rubbing your feet.
- If it’s raining, come with loose full-coverage clothing and an umbrella — water can cause streaks.
How long will my tan last?
With proper care, your tan should last 5–7 days. To extend your glow, moisturize daily and avoid chlorine and heavy exfoliation.
How long should I leave the solution on / when do I rinse?
- For a light/medium tone, rinse at ~2 hours.
- For dark tone, ~3 hours.
- For extra dark, up to 12 hours max (but not exceeding that).
- In all cases, follow the solution’s minimum required develop time (Spray Tan develops fully in 18-24 hours after application) before evaluating final color.
What should I do after my spray tan?
- Wait 2–6 hours (maximum 12) before your first rinse.
- If sleeping in your tan, wear loose dark clothing and keep the room cool to avoid sweating.
- Avoid exercise, sweating, or water until your first rinse.
- Do not use body wash at the first rinse — just rinse with lukewarm water. You may use gentle, non-bar cleansers starting with your second shower.
- Moisturize daily with an oil-free moisturizer to prolong your tan.
- Always wear SPF — spray tans do not provide sun protection.
- Exfoliate thoroughly 24 hours before your next tan. For consistent color, we recommend tanning once a week.
How does spray tanning work with mature or wrinkled skin?
Spray tans can look beautiful on all ages, but it’s important to know that on skin with deeper wrinkles or folds, the solution may settle unevenly. This can cause some areas (like inside folds) to fade faster or look lighter once the tan begins to wear off.
To keep your results looking smooth and natural, I recommend:
- Paying extra attention to hydration and exfoliation before your appointment.
- Using a self-tanning lotion or mousse at home between appointments to gently blend areas that lighten more quickly.
I’ll guide you through the process and help you choose the best approach so your glow looks even and confident.
Can I wear my own bra or underwear during a spray tan?
Yes! You are welcome to wear whatever makes you most comfortable — bra, underwear, swimsuit, or nothing at all. We simply work around the areas covered so you’ll have tan lines where the fabric sits.
Do I need to remove my makeup if I don’t want my face sprayed?
Yes. Even if you choose not to tan your face, it’s best to arrive with clean, makeup-free skin so we can properly prep and avoid any transfer to other areas. We will completely skip your face if you prefer.
Do you offer lighter spray tans for older or fairer skin tones?
Absolutely. Every tan is customized, and I can select a softer, lighter shade that complements mature or fair complexions for a natural, sun-kissed look.
